Job Brief
We seek an Automation Engineer II join our talented team in our new Colorado Springs outpost, a location offering access to a vibrant, high-quality lifestyle. This role involves performing intermediate design, development, and testing of automation systems, computer systems, networks, and software. The engineer will also conduct installation, commissioning, validation, and operation of automation systems. Most technical time will be spent as a builder, programming and building system components, with additional time spent designing frameworks to meet client needs. The Automation Engineer II will report to an Engineering Manager and will interface with client Engineering and Maintenance personnel to deliver high-quality service and support.

Responsibilities
- Write, test, peer review, document, and demonstrate quality code.
- Design intermediate automation systems.
- Plan and execute small projects, including derivative projects.
- Assist in the development of small proposals.
- Conduct installation, commissioning, validation, and operation of automation systems.
- Interface with client Engineering and Maintenance personnel for service and support.
- Peer review work of other automation engineers as needed.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers when assigned to common projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
- Proven experience in engineering design, control systems, or automation
- At least 2 years of experience with Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform and Allen-Bradley’s Studio5000 software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical supervision skills
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with engineering software tools
- Excellent communication skills, both client-facing and internal
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet the technical demands of high-stakes projects
- Live in or around the Colorado Springs area or able to relocate.
- Have own transportation or ability to travel to customer sites.
Additional Experience/Qualifications
- Ignition Core or Gold certification
- Familiarity with Smartsheets or similar project management tools is a plus
